Aubergine Black Beauty Organic
This top-quality organic, open-pollinated and heirloom aubergine has been a favourite in the UK (for good reason) since 1910. Extremely tasty and pear-shaped, Black Beauty has a deep purple to black coloured skin, protecting a creamy and buttery fruit. Organic Black Beauty Aubergine fruits can be picked small, making them well suited to UK growing conditions, or left to grow to full size, for a delicious bitter free flavour.
Organic Cucumber Marketmore
Organic Cucumber Marketmore is our favourite ridge type cucumber. Well suited to the Uk’s climate, this variety produces reliable crops of 20cm long fruits with a taste comparable to the greenhouse varieties, even in poorer summers. Marketmore are heirloom and open-pollinated so save your seed for next season! A deserving RHS AGM winner.
Pepper Long Red Marconi
Long red Marconi Peppers are the gourmets choice. Heavy crops of slender pointed fruits, ripening from green to red, stand out on this Italian heirloom. The fruits are versatile, mild and have a distinctly sweet flavour, which will complement a savoury stuffing, taste delicious grilled, or can be enjoyed raw in salads. Surprisingly, red peppers have more vitamin C than oranges and high levels of vitamin A, B and antioxidants.
Pepper California Wonder
California Wonder is by far the most successful and popular bell style pepper. Introduced in the 1920s, they are heirloom and open-pollinated, and they produce heavy crops of green to red ripening blocky fruits with thick, crisp flesh and a mild, yet delicious flavour. Excellent fresh, sauteed or stuffed, a half-cup serving of California wonder peppers offer 70% of your vitamin C and 30% of your vitamin A recommended daily allowance. The pretty white flower that contrasts nicely against the lush dark green pointed foliage is yet another reason to try these peppers today.
Tomato seeds Black Russian
This popular heirloom variety from Russia is a great choice for the Uk grower. Black Russian tomatoes are semi-sweet with some acidity to balance and have a slightly smoky flavour. Coupled with its slightly better tolerance to cooler conditions and interesting deep mahogany colour, they make an attractive, delicious and interesting choice for a near beefsteak sized tomato - one of our favourites for flavour and interest at Grow Sow Greener.
Tomato seeds Tigrella
Tigerella Tomatoes are excellent for colder climates. They are also stunning fruits, striped as their name suggests, and they add interest and beauty unrivalled by their monotone cousins. Tomato Tigerella sets its dramatic fruit early, usually sized between 60 and 120 grams, and has a sweet flavour and superior texture making this a highly regarded heirloom. Easy to grow in our climate, Tigerella Tomatoes are guaranteed to make you smile!
Our thin wall coco pots are 100% biodegradable and are designed to be planted with the plant in a prepared hole in the garden, where the roots will grow freely through the wall in the direction nature intended. Seedlings also benefit from the nutrient boost and the addition of organic matter from the decomposing coir pot. No mess, no fuss, less work and most importantly, no transplant shock or growth check. Unlike peat pots, our coco coir pots are 100% sustainable. They are not as susceptible to mould and will resist turning into a soggy mess before planting time which are attributes of the paper pulp variety.
Coco Coir Discs
Our coco discs are a mixture of a corky cellular material and short fibres. Millions of tiny natural sponges, which closely resembles peat moss, have been simply dried and compressed, making life easier and shipping cheaper. Add water, and they expand back to their original size. Simple, transportable and an excellent environment for the root zone and seed starting.
